Mount Lassen National Park 13. Bumpass Hell Vents The whole family enjoyed walking the few miles off the highway to the Bumpass Hell area to see the many bubbling mud pots, fumaroles and steam vents. An easy few miles of almost level walk takes you to area through trees and rocky slopes to the vista of the thermal area lying below. Landon especially enjoyed watching the mud pots. Here he stares at the continuous action of a good one. Each time you go to this area the various vents and pots have changed somewhat depending on the amount of water and other factors. As you can see most features have a numbered post to help you understand that feature by keying to a brochure. ⇦ Back to Page 12 On to Page 14 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (162K) Return to Mt. Lassen -- Page 2 |
