In those years (1964) Yosemite had been given to a vender who somewhat betrayed the National Park experience. The "Downtown area" contained theaters, bowling alleys, and numerous junk stores. The camping area was just a wide open area with no designated camping spots. Traffic in the floor area was a nightmare.
