Giant Blue-Eyed Mary (Large Flowered Blue-Eyed Mary)

Collinsia grandiflora - Common, late spring, annual, 4-16 in. Stems upright, sturdy. Leaves opposite and round below, narrow and often in whorls above. Flowers 1/2-3/4 in. on short stalks from axils with upper leaves, calyx 5 unequal lobes, flower tube bent, flower standing at about 45 degree angle from calyx. Flower petals larger, the upper 2 white or pale lavender-blue, the lower 3 deeper lavender-blue; small, folded, lower petal between others hold stamens. Grows in open, moist or dry, grassy, rocky places, edges of conifer forests, at low to mid elevations.
