Swamp Buttercup (Straight Beaked Buttercup)

Ranunculus orthorhynchus - Common, perennial, 6-36 in. Erect to prostrate, softly hairy to shiny. Stems to 36 in. long. Basal and lower stem leaves with petioles 2-8 in. long, divided into 3 narrow lobes. Flower petals 5-8, about 1/2 as wide as they are long. Seeds clustered in ball have prominent straight beaks. Grows in wet areas, along streams, beaches and tidal marshes. Ours grow along side the driveway in a drainage ditch. Native.
