Slender Cudweed (While Everlasting)

Gnaphalium canescens Subsp, thermale - Uncommon, late summer-autumn, biennial or perennial, 12-30 in. Basal tufts of leaves, erect flower stems, scented, with gray matted hairs throughout. Leaves 1/2-3 in long, linear; stem leaves upward-pointing, leaves on nonblooming stems spoon-shaped, upper stem leaves with wing running down them. Flower heads with short stalks, many in tight clusters pointing upward. Calyx straw-colored with white to straw-colored flowers. Grows in dry woodlands, roadsides at mid to high elevations. Native.
