Rough Eyelashweed (Blepharipappus)

Blepharipappus scaber Locally common, all summer, annual, 4-12 in. Slender upright, branched annual, hairless to covered with short stiff hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, usually pointed upward, 1-2 in. linear, with rolled edges. Flower heads have 3-8 ray flowers, white with purple undersides, very wide, deeply lobed into 3 parts; 6-25 white disk flowers with purple anthers. Grows in dry soils, pine and juniper woodlands, disturbed places of steppe, at 300-10,000 ft. Native.
