Aruncus dioicus Common, early summer, perennial, 2-7 ft. Stems several, erect, from creeping roots, robust, hairless, holding large leaves slightly hairy, divided pinnately 3 times to center vein; leaflets widely oval, 1-6 in.long, sharply toothed with pointed tips. Flower stalks in loose groups on stems above leaved. Flowers white, tiny, hanging or drooping in dense long strings; male and female flowers on separate plants. Grows in streambanks, edges of moist conifer forests, roadside ditches, at low elevations. Native
