Clump of large green leaves with upright flower stems. Stems hollow. Leaves fleshy. oblong to nearly round, 2-8 in. long, entire or shallowly toothed. Sessile stem leaves smaller. Flower heads clustered at stem top, some with 5 short rays, others rayless; bracts of cup often have black tips.
