Slender Hareleaf (Common Rabbitleaf, Common Hareleaf, Branched Hareleaf)

Lagophylla ramosissima - Locally common, all spring and summer, annual, 4-20 in. Stems stiff, erect, branched, softly hairy in spring, becoming hairless. Leaves at base oblong, 1-5 in., drying before bloom time. Leaves on center stem entire; upper leaves bract-like, densely coated with silver hairs. Inflorescence glandular, consisting of clusters of few flower heads with pale yellow rays, purple veins in rays. Grows in numerous dry habitats at low and mid elevations. Flowers open in evening and close the next morning.
