Mountain Heliotrope

Valeriana sitchensis Locally common, midspring, annual 2-19 in. Erect stems. Leaf petioles short, blades almost round, opposite. Inflorescence is round head of flowers at stem top. Flower tubes with 5 lobes about equal in size, white, occasionally pale pink; color uniform, without spotting; spur thick, blunt. Grows in seasonally wet area, open to partly shaded, at low to high elevations. Native.
