Wildflowers Found in Oregon Xanthoria Elegans Lichen Xanthoria elegans Thallus foliose, small, mostly less than 5 cm wide; lobes mostly .5-1.5 mm broad, lying flat to loosely lying flat; upper surface some shade of orange; lower surface white or pale yellowish. Ranges widespread throughout the Pacific Northwest. Substrate: Rock, both calcareous and noncalcareous, occasionally overgrowing moss or litter over rock.
