Tiger Lily

Wildflowers Found in Oregon

Tiger Lily (Columbia Lily, Oregon Lily)

Lilium columbianum - It is known by several common names, Tiger Lily, Columbia Lily and Oregon Lily. It ranges from British Columbia to northwestern California, and east to northern Nevada and northern Idaho. This is one of the most popular western wildflowers. They grow wild in our woodlands. We have transplanted some to our big circle, however they seem to be great favorites with our resident deer. Bernice gets disgusted when they eat our transplanted ones and leave the wild ones alone. We try to share with the deer. They are truly beautiful both the deer and the flowers. We had one blooming in the morning. By 2:00 PM the deer had eaten them all. The plant was about 5 feet high.
