Wildflowers Found in Oregon Hairy Manzanita Arctostaphylos columbiana - Tall upright shrub without burl at base. Twigs have matted to stiff white hairs, often glandular. Widely oval, dull green leaves, alike on both sides with stiff white hairs, sometimes with glands. Large leaf-like bracts frame base of inflorescence. Flowers white to pink, bell-shaped, in ample clusters near tips of twigs. Somewhat flattened berries, brownish red to bright red. Grows in dry rocky or clay soils at low elevations, mostly on western side of Coast Range but also found further inland.
