Wildflowers Found in Oregon Golden Waxy Cap Mushroom Hygrophorus flavescens - Slimy, orange-yellow cap with yellow gills and orange-yellow stalk with white base. Cap 1-2 3/4 in. wide; broadly convex, with incurved margin, becoming flat or sunken center, or knobbed; margin lined; sticky, then dry and shiny; orange to yellow. Gills attached, close to nearly distant; broad; thick but thin-edged; waxy, yellowish. Edible. Season: June to November.
