Field Mustard (Rape)

Brassica rapa (Brassica campestris) - Common, all spring, annual or biennial, 2-3 ft. Erect stems, many branches, upper stem leaves clasping. Plant covered with whitish power. Leaves greenish, pinnately divided, 2-4 side lobes with rounded tips, larger lobe at end. Flowers in many small clusters atop stems, yellow with 4 petals. Seed pods point outward or up ward; pod to 3 in. long with narrow beak at top. Grows in orchards, grain and other fields, at lo to mid elevations.
