Slimleaf Onion

Allium amplectens - Locally common, late spring, perennial, 6-12 in. Erect flower stem with withering leaves. Leaves 2-4, narrow, somewhat rounded in cross section, attached along stem. Cluster of 10-50 white to light pink, papery flowers atop stem; tips of petals do not turn up; ovary distinctly 6-crested. Grows in vernal-wet clay and serpentine soils that become hot and dry, below 7000 ft. Native.
