Yellow Parentucellia

Parentucellia viscosa - Locally common, late spring, annual, 12-25 in. Erect, hairy. Stems unbranched. Leaves opposite, stemless, with lance-shaped blade, heavily veined, toothed. Flower spike narrow at top. Flower tube about same length as calyx. Flower yellow, 1 in. long, sticky-hairy; 2 lips, upper lip short, lower lip longer with three distinct lobes leading to 2 ridges on tube floor. A Mediterranean weed found in moist pastures, grassy sites, along coast and Columbia River. Nonnative.
