Field Peppergrass (Poorman's peppergrass)

Lepidium campestre - Common, late spring-early summer, annual or biennial, 8-16 in. Erect, with basal rosette, densely hairy. Stem branched at top, leafy. Leaves in rosette with stalks 2-3 in. long, blade widely oval, entire or with toothed lobes on outer section of leaf. Stem leaves sessile or clasping, with lobes wrapped partway around stem, Flowers small, with narrow white petals, yellow anthers. Seedpod oval, concave on flattened side, notched with pointed style at top, flattened outer edge. Grows in disturbed places, fields, roadsides, at mid elevations. Nonnative.
