Piggy Back Plant (Youth-on-Age, Bristle Flower)

Tolmiea menziesii - Common, late spring-early summer perennial, 12-30in. Trailing plant with tall stem. Plant more or less hairy. Basal and stem leaves widely oblong, shallow lobes with pointed tips, sharp teeth, short bristles on top surface. Small plantlets often grow on top of leaf. Flowers in spike, 4 petals thread-like purplish or brown. Grows in moist woods at low to mid elevations. Native.
