Wildflowers Found in Oregon Scotch Broom Cytisus scoparius - Evergreen. This one has given all brooms a bad name. Has spread like weed over thousands of acres of open land in northern California and Northwest. Upright growing mass of wand-like green stems (often leafless or nearly so) may reach 10 feet. Golden yellow 3/4 inch flowers, spring and early summer. We remove these whenever they appear. I took this picture along the road. Ours are small and we dispatch them quickly.
