Jam

1. A preserve made from whole fruit boiled to a pulp with sugar. We can jam out of many different fruits.
2. To cause (moving parts, for example) to lock in an unworkable position. I managed to jam the typewriter keys.
3. To pack (items, for example to excess; cram. She jammed her clothes into the suitcase.
4. To block, congest, or clog. The traffic jam blocked traffic for two hours.
5. To crush or bruise. He jammed his finger while working on his car.
6. Electronics. To interfere with or prevent the clear reception of (broadcast signals) by electronic means. Russia often jammed the radio signals for the Voice of America.
