Jar
1. A cylindrical glass or earthenware vessel with a wide mouth and usually no
handles. We can our fruits and vegetables in quart jars.
2. The amount that a jar can hold. They ate three jars of beans for dinner.
3. To be disturbing or irritating; grate. The constant talking jarred on my
nerves.
4. To bump or cause to move or shake from impact. The crash jarred the kids in
the back of the car.
