Latitude

1. (geography) A imaginary line (in fact a circle) around a planet running parallel to the planet's equator. In geography, latitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the north-south position of a point on the Earth's surface.

3. (astronomy) The angular distance of a heavenly body from the ecliptic. The astronomical latitude is defined as the angle between the equatorial plane and the true vertical at a point on the surface
