Shot
1. A drink, especially a jigger of liquor. He drank three shots of vodka.
2. The firing or discharge of a weapon, such as a gun. The policeman shot at
the bank robber.
3. An attempt to reach a targe with a rocket. We attempted a moon shot in the
1950s.
4. A guess; an opportunity. It gave a fair shot at a part in the play.
5. A photographic view or exposure. He got a good shot of the last model.
6. A hypodermic injection. I get a shot in my eyeball for my macular
degeneration.
7. Tiny lead or steel pellets, especially ones used in a shotgun cartridge. The
bird flesh had many shots in it.
8. The heavy metal ball that is put in for distance in the shot put event. He
set a record throwing the shot put.
9. An attempt; a try. He took a shot at losing weight.
