It is located between Guangxi's five major cities, Nanning, Guilin, Liuzhou, Beihai, and Wuzhou. Guigang has 1 county-level city, 3 urban districts, and 1 county. Guigang's population is 4,400,000, mainly Cantonese Chinese along with a number of minority tribes. Guigang is a city with over two thousand years of history. It has been an important political and military fortress and business center since the Qin and Han Dynasties. Beginning in the Ming Dynasty, Guigang was administrated as a Guixian County.
