Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) 1. New Road to Huangshan Construction Delay After we had visited Sam's family in Huoshan and in Hefei, Sam arranged for us to take a trip to Huangshan (Yellow Mountain). Huangshan is not a single mountain but a range of peaks. Green comes to mind more than yellow. Stunted green pines clinging to purple cliffs and miles of giant bamboo wave in the wind make you wonder about the name Yellow Mountain. We took a bus ride to the mountain. A long seven-hour trip in a bus with the shock absorbers no longer working made you feel as it you had taken a trip on a small boat in a storm. The government chose this year to repave the road in the mountains. Forty miles of new highway awaited us as the workers labored to pour a new roadbed. Here we wait for our turn on the one-way section of the new road. ⇦ Back to Page 20 On to Page 2 ⇨Return to Huangshan - Page 1 |
