Trip to the Institute of Tropical Botany
9. Dai Village The roofs use either thatched fiber or some times fired tiles. They construct the fences out of split bamboo. This keeps the chickens and pigs in the ground floor area. The Dai festivals attract hordes of foreigners and Chinese alike. The Water-Splashing Festival held around mid-April (usually 13 to 15 April) washes away the dirt, sorrow and demons of the old year and brings in the happiness of the new. Be prepared to get drenched all day, and remember, the wetter you get, the more luck you will receive. ⇦ Back to Page 8 On to Page 10 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (181K) Return to Xishuangbanna - Page 2 |
