8. Proud Mom and Baby

A young lady proudly shows off her baby to the visitors. The 20th century brought warlords and oppression to Xishuangbanna until Japan invaded China prior to World War II. Then US transformed the area into a transportation center as American cargo planes airlifted goods from India to supply China's isolated Nationalist forces. After the war and following civil war the remnants of the KMT arrived here fleeing the Communists. They then escaped into Burma establishing small states and going into the drug trade.
