3. Water Taxi

This is one of the water taxis for use by ordinary people. We were taken on a much more substantial boat. Many peasants line the banks of the river to watch and of course the other side is always has a better view. The dragon boat races are held all over China in many rivers. Teams of men and some of women compete in the races for prizes and bragging rights for the year. It all started when a government official committed suicide because of graft and corruption in the government. He drowned himself and people celebrate his sacrifice by the races.
