Hebei province consists of the northern part of the north China's plain, encircling the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin. These two greatly contribute of Hebei's economic success. Hebei is a major producer of coal, petroleum and iron. Its iron ore reserves are the third greatest in China. Its limestone deposits, used for cement and the chemical industry are among the largest in China. It supplies much of the grain to both Beijing and Tianjin. Hebei is China's top producer of pears and its wheat, grapes, and walnuts rank in the top three, Important animal produce include goat's wool, yarn, eggs and beef.
