3. Touching Cloud Peak - Lingering Garden (Liuyaun)

Here you see the Touching Cloud Peak in the Lingering Garden in the City of Suzhou. A Ming civil servant built the Lingering Garden as a place of meditation with its refuge of flowers, trees, courtyards, and halls. As you linger here, contemplate on the 20-foot high, five-ton rock shipped here 400 years ago from Lake Tai because of its inspiring shape. This garden has been planted in osmanthus and willow, varieties not known for their brilliant flowering, in keeping with traditional prejudice for plain, non-showy vegetation.
