7. Bernice Buys a Clay Doll

The enterprising gentleman makes and sells small dolls made of colored clay mounted on a stick. They are very cleverly made and most delightful. As always, whenever we stop, a crowd gathers to watch the excitement. We are paid in Chinese money, which cannot be taken out of the country, and we must spend it somehow. We like to help out the local economy by buying local items.
