25. Paul's 63rd Birthday Party Cake

Soon Paul will blow out the candles on his birthday cake. It is 1984 and Paul's 53rd birthday and our factory is throwing a party for him. Coke is popular now but somewhat expensive for Chinese. Seated left to right is: Shanna, sister to a Chinese teacher, Shawn who works with us at the Institute, Peng Yanbo's wife, Peng Yanbo's daughter Patsy, who would come to live with us in 1994 when we taught in Xiamen, Mr. Chen the Factory Chief Engineer and Shawn's father, Paul, Bernice and Peng Yanbo one of our students and friend. Peng Yanbo would later come to the University of Wisconsin and then spend a month with us at our home in Oregon.
