37. Chinese Lacquer Factory

Some of the events that the students arranged were visits to factories featuring various different products. Silk production, silk painting, ceramics, cloisonné, silk weaving, and silk thread production were some of the places. The students had to explain the processes in English. The students who participated often made great progress in their English speaking. To go abroad they must pass a difficult English test given by the government. This is a lacquer ware factory. We bought a number of pieces made here at this factory. Some of the pieces are inlaid with silver and are most beautiful. The poster on the wall proclaims we must protect the health of the women workers.
