38. Chinese Panda in the Chengdu Zoo

One of the trips the students arranged was a trip to the Chengdu Zoo. This is one of the Panda Bears being cared for at the zoo. Pandas eat only bamboo and only are found in the bamboo forests in Sichuan Province in China. This kind of bamboo dies every 100 years and this is the year it died. The Pandas are starving and will continue to do so until more new bamboo grows. The government is capturing as many of these lively creatures as they can and bringing them to Chengdu to care for them until they can be released again into the wild. Our giant bamboo at our home in California that came from this area also died at the same time.
