Chengdu, Sichuan 51. Fresh Pork Meat For Sale This is a meat market along side of the road in Chengdu. The Chinese eat mostly pork, chicken and fish for meat. The pork is brought fresh and alive into the city where it is killed and then sold. You don't buy cuts of pork as you do here is the USA, this lady just cuts of a chunk to the size you want. The fat is prized by the Chinese. You pay for it and you carry it home in your hand with no wrapping. This is 1984 and paper and plastic bags were not readily available.
