Grimsley and I were the last two GI's to leave the site when we turned the operation over to the ROK's. We had a list of all company property that we were to bring back with us, mostly gas and water cans. It seems that all that remained belonged to the ROK's. Ours had some how disappeared. After a heated argument and many threats by the ROK's, we managed to salvage enough so we wouldn't have to show up empty handed. We drove day and night trying to find our way back to Taegu. We had no maps. It would not have helped because we didn't know where we were anyway. There were no other GI's for many miles. Every village we passed through we tried to get directions, from anyone who spoke English. Finally, we came to a town with a MP roadblock. They told us how to get to our destination.
