Taejon Relay was located on an extremely rocky mountain. The Mess hall was at one end of the Quonset hut. Sgt. Dawson, who later went to Salem, was the cook, and took great pride in his trade. He ordered curtains and tablecloths from Sears, so the place would look more like home. My first Christmas in Korea was memorable because of him and the brew he concocted. Alcohol was not easy to come by in the field, but, canned raisins, cherries, he could get plenty. I don't know what it was we drank, but everyone not on duty, joined in. It was not a pretty sight.
