ROK troops were always with us at relay sites. They would do most of the guard duty. They were generally not well trained. They were most often poorly paid but were equipped with U.S. weapons. Because the signalmen often were busy with maintaining the relay site, troops were supplied for guard duty to most sites. Depending on the location, the surrounding situation would determine the number of the protecting forces.
