LST's Beached at Wonson Noll with the 581st Signal Radio Relay Company at Wonson
8. LST's Beached at Wonson

I came ashore on an LST as my introduction to Wonson. The ship just rams its way up on the sand. Generally bulldozers will move sand to the bow if needed. The ramp goes down and off you drive. I drove a Weapons Carrier with a trailer. We always were fully loaded. My team EO7 had two of these trucks. Here you can see 5 LST's and numerous LCI's beached on a typical mud flat of Korea. The LST's have to wait until high tide to get off the beach.
