Richmond Relay - 1969-70
31. Seke Yong San (Mount Seke)
According to stories I remember from the Korean staff on Richmond Site, it once was a Japanese aircraft spotlight site during World War II. There was no road at that time so all the equipment and supplies had to be carried to the top of Seke Yong San and the big lights assembled before operation could begin. I assume allied bombers from Russia and China flew over Korea on their way to and from raids on Japan and this site was part of an aircraft spotting network. There was also a Japanese air field at Kunsan on the Yellow Sea coast west of Taejon and is still used today by the U.S. Japan had occupied this country since the 1905's and throughout its history using Korea's resources and people to help build its Empire. ⇦ Back to Page 30 Return to Page 4 On to Page 32 ⇨ |
