58. Sunset over Kunsan Harbor
Most of the time on days off the guys would just hang around the site and sleep, eat, read, write and watch TV. They had the option to ride down to Kunsan A.B. with the ration run and participate in some activities on base. Other recreation was to go into the village to shop or visit one of many Night Clubs near the air base that were open 24 hrs a day. I made my first ring at the lapidary shop on base out of a nice Korean Tiger Eye stone that I bought at the shop then shaped it into a cabochon. The sunsets over the Yellow Sea and Kunsan Harbor were always fantastic. Every season brought views and scenes good enough to be off a calendar. Sometimes the rice filled lowlands were green or golden colored or frozen over for the winter. Sometime the sun or moon would reflect off the harbor water and at times the islands off shore and smoke stacks around Kunsan would be clearly visible. I tool many pictures of the views around Tacoma Site 10 but never got tired of seeing them and none of them were the same either. ⇦ Back to Page 57 Return to Page 8 On to Page 59 ⇨ |
