Company G, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines
29. 75mm Recoilless Rifle After the first NKPA Tank had been destroyed, the 75mm recoilless gun section and 3.5-inch rocket crews of Company C moved up. Together they gave the coup de grace to the damaged tank. Further down the road a hut disintegrated as tank number three emerged with its 85mm rifle swinging towards the Marines. After several hits it rumbled on until the air-controllers called in the Marine Corsairs. A pair of five-inch rockets finished this tank. Passing this tank they stumbled on docile tank number one. After recoilless rifles and rocket launchers blasted it, its crew climbed out and surrendered. The fourth T-34 gave up without a fight. The 344th Tank Regiment ceased to exist. ⇦ Back to Page 28 On to Page 30 ⇨Back to Smith - Page 4 |
