Communist Forces in Korea
5. The Chinese Troops March into North Korea In an interesting publicity shot we see the Chinese Troops being welcomed by a band of musicians as they enter into North Korea to come to the aid of the fading North Korean Army. Chinese troops need about 10 pounds of food and ammunition per day as compared to 60 pounds for each American GI. This means that the Chinese do not have a bountiful supply of ammunition. Often the Chinese must get by with grain soaked in water for a meal. Each Chinese soldier had an issue of 80 rounds of ammunition. The Marine forces had many airdrops of ammo and had hundreds of North Korean civilians bearers to relay ammo to them. ⇦ Back to Page 4 On to Page 6 ⇨Return to Communist Forces Page 1 |
