Lone Pine Birds of Oregon We think that this book ranks excellent for amateur birders in Oregon. On the left you see page 253 giving the illustration, description, and range map within Oregon for that bird. The illustration may show the plumage of the male, female if applicable. The description will indicate the likelihood of that bird being there at all, ranging from abundant, common, fairly common, uncommon, rare, casual, or vagrant. One excellent thing this book has done is to indicate the best places and times to view each bird. Listing some 88 locations that these birds can best be viewed, along with a map of the general location of that area with descriptions of the best sites, will help you determine the bird you view.
