Sora

Porzana carolina - Most common of the rails, but seldom seen. It prefers fresh marshes, especially with dense vegetation, and rice fields. The best field mark is the short, sturdy chicken-like bill. The Sora is easier to flush than other rails, but like them, has a short weak flight. Call is a musical descending whinny or a whistled ker-wee.
