Tools We Use to Can Applesauce, Tool 3 Pans, Knives and Cutting Board, Tool 3 We use these shallow pans to work with many of our canning jobs. The apples, pears, or peaches come into the fist pan, get worked on and then passed to the second pan. Sharp knives will greatly ease and improve your efforts. Working with apples it helps to have a narrow bladed knife to made turns easier. We use a large knife to quarter the apple and two shorter narrow bladed knives for the trimming work. Sharpen you knives before you start.
