Step One, Get Some Tapioca Pearls

This may seem like an obvious step. But our experience discovered some interesting things. On the left you see Kraft's Minute Tapioca in a box. It has 8 ounces and costs $3.75. We thought it a ghastly price. At the Asian Market we found the second and third bags of tapioca for sale. Wow! Both contained 16 ounces. The pink one costs 69 cents and the other 79 cents. That's roughly 11 times the price difference between the two. How are they different? The bags must be soaked in water for 2 hours before cooking. You make your choice. We tried both and the taste was the same for both of the bags. If you prefer the box follow directions on the box.
