Making Honey Butter 2. Melt Butter/Margarine You can use either butter or margarine. Your choice. Both will do the job. You should not use the soft butter, however. You will need a pound of either for a cup of honey. We are making a double batch so we will use two pounds on honey to a pint of honey. Turn the heat on low. Don't let it splatter. When the pan heats up take it off the heat to let the butter melt. Alternate heat and taking the pan off until all is melted.
