Bernice Chase Noll Growing Up

7. Bernice Chase in 1942.

I'm in Junior High and was very interested in the war. World War II was very traumatic for me and when they had air raids and everyone went to the basement, I was too excited and scared and they sent me to my Grandmothers because they couldn't deal with my fear. I made drawings of Tojo and Hitler and sold war stamps. When kids bought any stamps I made some pieces of paper the size of the stamps and covered their faces. In that way we got rid of the enemy. Our Principal was selected as a Red Cross executive and sent back to Washington DC.
